WELCOME TO THE RWANDA FILM FESTIVAL 2010
It is with great pleasure that the Rwanda Cinema announces its Film festival event slated Mid-July.
As you must have realized the Rwanda Film Festival is consistently growing every year— this year the festival will work under the theme " Africa Celebrated" , joining the efforts of the rest of the world in celebrating the New Africa in 2010.
Once again as in 2009 Rwanda Film Festival will bring to the Rwandan community living in the hills a true cinema experience, and in Kigali at our main venues, showcasing the bests of African Directors.
It is absolutely amazing how fast Rwanda Film Festival and Hillywood have grown into becoming the international destination for filmmakers and tourists.
The future is very bright for Rwanda and for the Rwanda Cinema Centre and this is just the beginning of many great things.
See you in Hillywood, July 11th-28th , 2010, when we mark our 6th year Anniversary!

CALL FOR ENTRY!
6th Rwanda Film Festival
The Rwanda Cinema Center invites you to participate in the 6th annual Rwanda Film Festival. The festival will take place between july 11th and july 28th, 2010; and we will be accepting films for submission until March 15, 2010.
Over the last 6 years the Rwanda Film Festival has grown steadily and become recognized as one of Africa’s largest and most unique venues for filmmakers to showcase their work. It is a rendezvous of films ranking from fiction to documentaries, and animated to shorts. It is host to both internationally acclaimed films and locally produced ones, and it is seen as a source of information, inspiration and representation of less heard perspectives and voices. The films cover a broad spectrum of issues including human rights, the environment, social and economic development, and public health; and the festival stretches across the nation. From the bustling avenues of Rwanda’s capital Kigali, to the rural communities of distant districts where films are projected on inflatable screens, the Rwanda Film Festival promises to be an original and enjoyable experience for all.
If you are at all interested in participating in this year’s film festival, or have any further questions regarding it, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to your inquiries and hope that you choose to become involved in this year’s festival.

It was not until 1st February 2010, that the publicities for the sponsored filmmaking workshop went full throttle. A couple of well designed A1 posters hit the streets and various public places with one theme: calling for prospective applicants to submit applications. This was later to be followed by equally well-designed brochures and leaflets. TV and Radio publicities were later to follow not forgetting the school’s web blog rwandafilminstitute.wordpress.com. On the blog, participants engaged RFI Team with various questions that begged for instant answers. In retrospect, RFI Team came in handy providing answers to even the teething queries.
The organizers worked around the clock trying to make the event a memorable one. This year round, applicants had the luxury of sending their applications electronically at the comfort of their homes. All applications were supposed to be addressed to the institute’s email address –

. Something became certain; every new day was getting busier than the previous one. As usual, last minute applicants worked even harder to meet the deadline. By the close of applications, a record 145 scripts had been booked at the institute’s office.
